That in between time.....

The weather is not quite like this lovely illustration from 1952, but we live in hope at Cow and Ghost Towers. Having a quiet few days at the in between time of Christmas and New Year. Lots of plans for the business in 2016. Spending this time sorting and sourcing stock, which has led to quite a few ideas. Some fayres already booked, and we will of course be returning to our usual favourites later in the year. We're starting with The National Botanic Garden on January 9th and 10th

Wishing all of our friends, customers and followers a very happy and prosperous 2016.
See you all soon.

Christmas

We're decorating for Christmas at Cow & Ghost Towers. Perhaps slightly predictably we have a lot of vintage decorations. We love the style and colour of mid 20th century decorations. We were lucky to inherit pieces from Grandparents, and have added pieces when we see them at fayres and sales.

Particularly fond of these pipe cleaner people. I remember them clearly from my childhood. When the Christmas boxes come out it's like greeting old friends. My maternal grandmother had a box of 6. They were sadly split up over the years. One remains. My paternal grandparents had one. They have been keeping each other company for many years, but this year have two new friends we were lucky enough to buy two from a vintage website. We'd love to add some more.

A few other treasures....

Thank you to all our customers and followers.
2015 has been a brilliant year.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2016.

Best wishes,

John & Kevin

The Other Side Of The Stall.....

A rare day off at Cow & Ghost Towers. We decided to wander down West to Aberaeron and the neighbouring National Trust estate Llanercharon. Both the town and the property are high on our list of favourite places. Wonderful Christmas fayre in the outbuildings of the beautiful John Nash villa.

Really nice change to be on the other side of the stall. Wonderful selection of crafts, food and re purposed vintage items. We came away with several bags of goodies and a lot of inspiration.

Many rooms in the house decorated for the season in the style of the early 20th Century. Fascinating to walk around and get a taste of how things would have been 100 years ago.

We're already looking forward to returning next year.

Time for tea.....

We spent a happy hour at Cow & Ghost Towers washing some of our bone china this afternoon. Couldn't resist taking a photo, as the patterns look wonderful when they are collected together like this. We have lots more.......

The reason we have been up to our eyes in suds is we have organised a vintage themed tea room for a craft fayre we have arranged with our church. Please come along and say hello. Promises to be a good day.

Crickhowell Vintage Fayre

Brilliant day at the Antique & Vintage Fayre in Crickhowell, This was the Christmas event at this venue and a lovely way to end a series of great fayres this year.

Back here in April 2016 and can't wait. Always a wonderful range of quality stalls and a warm friendly atmosphere.

The event takes place at the Clarence Hall on Beaufort Street. The hall is light and airy and retains many lovely original features.

It's the perfect setting for vintage and antique items and adds to the warm and friendly atmosphere of these events.

Look forward to returning in 2016.

A few dates.

November has come around quickly. A busy month ahead for Cow & Ghost. Two fayres booked. Both events we've attended before and always well organised enjoyable days.
Hope to see you there.

Mumbles Fayre

Brilliant day on Saturday at the Vintage & Craft Fayre in Mumbles. As ever a huge thank you to Smock Vintage for organising. Looking forward to future events with them at the Waterfront Museum in Swansea.

As ever the Welsh wool blankets were very popular. We have more coming in this week and will be bringing to our next fayre in Crickhowell on November 7th. Please come along and say hello.

"At home with"

We've spent an enjoyable afternoon going through paperwork and sorting new stock. We like working in the garden office. Thought some of you might be interested to see our HQ. It's a lovely room to be in all year. We use it for paperwork, restoration and craft projects. It also houses the bone china we rent out.

Time for tea....

Our followers know how we love a bone china tea set at Cow & Ghost. We are also very partial to afternoon tea, particularly the cake part. Just a reminder that we have a huge range of bone china and glass stands available to rent for any occasion that may require them. Enough trios for 200 people. We also have some complete tea sets for sale. They are available online, and we try to take at least one to every fayre we do. The following photographs are a selection of what we have in stock at the moment.

Botanic Garden Fair.

Cow & Ghost have had a brilliant weekend at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales. A memorable two day fayre in a beautiful and unique setting.

Inside stalls in four locations and also outside making the most of what was perfect autumn weather. It doesn't always rain in Wales. Wonderful to meet so many great people. Also great catching up with friends and regular customers.

We look forward to returning in January 2016 and seeing this amazing venue dressed for winter.

New stock

We've had a very enjoyable long weekend at Cow & Ghost Towers. We visited what remains of the National Trust's Clandon Park, so sadly gutted by fire earlier this year. The building is very eerie, but wonderful to see the plans and enthusiasm  for its restoration.  We plan to return when it is complete.

Also a weekend for stock hunting. We visited Hungerford, which is a town we love, and discovered Guildford. What a wonderful city. An amazing array of shops and a great atmosphere. It reminded us of how our local towns were years ago. Both were great for vintage items. As well as the suitcase we bought lots of other goodies. Spoiled for choice. It will all be coming to the 2 day Vintage and Antique Fayre at the Welsh National Botanic Gardens on October 3rd and 4th.

Busy weekend.

A busy, but very enjoyable weekend. Great day as always at the Vintage Fayre in Crickhowell on Saturday. Nice to catch up with everyone,
and lots of wonderful items on sale.

Added bonus was the presentation of a cheque to Cancer Research. There has been a raffle at each event, and delighted to report that stallholders and the public have raised £1173 for this worthy cause.

Today was a day of treasure hunting for future events. Lots of lovely items for upcoming fayres. We particularly like this vintage sewing box.
