Blankets

We do love a Welsh wool blanket at Cow & Ghost. Two new arrivals today. Both double and both perfect. The photos simply don't do justice to the vibrant colours.

These lovely blankets were made in various mills all over Wales. Always a luxury item when new, they were often given as wedding presents as they would literally last a lifetime.

My Great Grandmother would give one to family members only.

I have the ones that belonged to my Grandmother - and a few I've collected through the years. I never tire of them, and they are very useful in the winter.

We've been pleased to sell several over the last few months. It's been lovely talking to people about them and seeing photos of them in their new homes.

Along with the two new ones, this is our stock at the moment.

We also have a wonderful range of bunting made from damaged blankets.
Wonderful that when they have had a lifetime of use these treasures find a new purpose.

We'll be bringing all these along to the Vintage Fayre in Crickhowell on September 19th

Torch Theatre Vintage Day.

Where to begin....

Brilliant day yesterday at the Torch Theatre in Milford Haven. Wonderful atmosphere. Vintage stalls, dancing, clothes, fashion show, film, cartoons, tea room. All beautifully done and so well attended. We met an avalanche of lovely people. The day flew by.

All set up in the small auditorium.
Hard to take photos, but the black background and spotlighting created a great setting.

Wonderful to see the detail that had gone into this event. The fashion show was brilliant, and so many customers had dressed for the occasion and looked amazing.

Just a few of the wonderful costumes people were wearing.

So hard to sum up this wonderful day.
We look forward to returning to future events.
We've reserved our pitch.

Chairs, chairs and more chairs............

We do love a bentwood kitchen chair at Cow & Ghost.
Have sold lots, restored in a variety of styles.
Not always easy to source.
Until this week !!!
I got 19 of them in a job lot deal :-)

Two journeys to collect and packing the car
was nothing short of an art form...

Opening windows in the conservatory also became quite tricky.
Friday 28th was the beginning.

 Washing

and painting...

These are what we completed on day one.
Day 2 has dawned. Watch this space for
the next chapter........

Jolly holidays.

Sorry there hasn't been much on the blog for the last week or so.
Cow and Ghost have been on holiday.
Sadly coming to and end now.

We'll be back at it all next week.
Lots of new furniture to upcycle.
Two fayres booked for September.

Lovely sunny day in Hampton Court today.

No cows, but rumours of many ghosts......

Vintage tea Time

Cow & Ghost are having a great holiday
in Devon & Cornwall.
Lots of National Trust properties visited.
Today was a highlight.
The Rock Pool Cafe in Mousehole.

We saw it in a magazine over a year ago,
and have been determined to go.
Somewhere that IS as good as it looks.

Warm welcome,
fantastic food
and bits of vintage loveliness
EVERYWHERE.

Chairs.

We're really pleased with these mid century metal tube framed chairs. Great shape and style. There is one on view at our unit in Paraphernalia, Market Street, Hay On Wye.

As of this morning lots of other new stock too.

We can confirm that not only do they look great, they are very comfortable too

Particularly on a sunny day. Crossing fingers for a few more of those before too long.
