Shiny Happy Motors

The sun has been cracking the paving slabs at Cow & Ghost Towers, so a jaunt out today to a vintage car show to hand out leaflets for our August event. Hoping to have a small show of vintage cars and bikes on the field behind the hall.

We love looking at them and talking to the owners. The passion and enthusiasm is catching. We always come away saying how much we'd like a vintage vehicle... One day, one day...

Lots of leaflets given out and lots of fun had. Round two next Sunday.

As we were leaving, spotted this on a lamp post. Had to include. Did make us smile.

Summer starts here

A very busy start to the summer at Cow & Ghost.
Luckily the sun has shone. Hopefully a sign of more to come.

We enjoyed a fantastic day trading at the Hay On Wye Literary festival yesterday. Trading as part of the annual Crafts and Collectable Market, it was a pleasure to be in the town. Live music, brilliant stalls on the square and streets and a superb feel good atmosphere.

We also spent the day at the show ground on Saturday. Saw our history heroine Dr Lucy Worsley speak about Jane Austen. Brilliant. Lucky enough to meet her afterwards. Much excitement at Cow & Ghost Towers.

The previous weekend was spent at the Glanusk Estate. We took the blanket and craft side of the business along to their Estate Fair and Open Garden. Wonderful event. Great welcome, and met some lovely people.

Wandering Hay On Wye in the sun, we came upon this wonderful stall selling vintage garden furniture. It made a great splash of colour on the old market square. We're old enough to remember a lot of the patterns first time round. Great trip down memory lane and recollections of summers past. They were wildly popular, and have to confess we invested ourselves, with thoughts of summers future.

In between this, we've been busy promoting our own fair in the summer. Lots of leaflets given out at events and passed on to local businesses who have been very supportive.

Lots of advertising in the pipeline, and delighted to say the first one has come out.

Please spread the word. Looking forward.

Advertising

Spending the afternoon working on advertising and promotions for our fair in August. It's the first event we've organised and all at Cow & Ghost Towers are very excited.

The first batch of leaflets and posters arrived from the printers last week and we're delighted with them. The art work is by a friend and has worked perfectly.

Also this week we have seen our first advert in a publication. More to come, but thrilled to have made front page in the village 'Talybont Matters' magazine.

In other news, the we're really looking forward to standing at the Glanusk Estate Fair & National Garden Scheme Open Day on May 21st. We'll be displaying the Welsh blanket side of the business. LOTS of new stock.

Fairs

We've had a busy few weeks at Cow & Ghost. Two fairs in Carmarthenshire. A great weekend at the National Botanic Gardens. Added excitement was that Bargain Hunt were filming, and one of the teams bought something from us. The episode is due to air in September.

We also had a very enjoyable day in Llandeilo Civic Hall. A new fair for us. Wonderful atmosphere. We look forward to returning for the next one on June 3rd.

A few more dates fast approaching. Really looking forward to standing at Glanusk's 'Estate Fayre and National Garden Scheme Open Day'. It's May 21st and will be an event for the Welsh Blanket side of the business. We've had lots of new colours in over the spring, so many new items having their first outing.

The following weekend we are delighted to be part of the Hay On Wye Literary Festival again. We were involved two years ago. This time we will be at 'Hay Craft & Collectables' in the Old Butter Market on May 28th.

A busy and exciting time.

Easter Break

Cow & Ghost have just returned from a very enjoyable few days away in Pembrokeshire.

We'd seen images of the vintage 'Secret Caravan' online, and being huge Enid Blyton fans, just couldn't resist.

It didn't disappoint. A rural haven, beautifully and sympathetically restored to include all modern conveniences. Set in 2 acres of garden, we really felt as though we'd found paradise.

We used the time to read, walk and generally catch up. A few stop offs on the way there which proved to be wonderful opportunities to re stock for our next event this weekend. As ever, really looking forward to the spring fair at the National Botanic Garden of Wales.

On our way home we finally got to see the restored Cardigan Castle and Castle Green House. We've followed this project since 2003, and were delighted to see it has recently won the UK Restoration of the Year. All we can say is WOW. It's amazing. Well worth a visit if you're ever in the area. We look forward to returning.

April days

March has flown by at Cow & Ghost.
We've been busy preparing for several upcoming fairs and events.

Lots of trips out looking for new stock. Really pleased with things we've been able to source. Some really great finds.

Also very busy with the Welsh Blankets. The new line of tea cosies made for Spring have been very successful. We've sourced a good selection of blankets to add to our stock, and also been lucky with finding some damaged ones that can be re purposed into various items.

This is a particular favourite. Soon to be made into cushions and other items. Great being able to re use something like this and give it a new life.

Looking forward to lots of upcoming events. Details will be on blog and Facebook pages well in advance.

Sunday 5 March 2017

Brecon Women's Festival Artisan Market.

The year is flying by. March seems to have come around very quickly. A busy start to the year for Cow & Ghost, but all very productive and enjoyable.

We'd read that Brecon Women's Festival would be running in the town between the 2nd and 12th of the month. A wonderful programme of events including art, talks, music, poetry, craft, workshops and exhibitions.

We were delighted to be able to be part of this through standing at the Artisan Market on the 4th.

We always include a mix of Welsh blankets and related products in our vintage fairs. Stock has grown and developed, and this was the third outing for just the Welsh wool.

We are delighted with the response from customers and stall holders alike. The day was a huge success for everyone involved and really enjoyable.

We really look forward to being involved and supporting this event in the future.
